Repurpose an old mirror is something a lot of people don’t think about, but it is one of the quickest and easiest ways to change or up date your decor.
I have been wanting to repurpose an old mirror for awhile and the urge finally hit me to get’er done.
Here is the before of the old mirror that is in desperate need of a face-lift to get rid of the gold. As you can see I almost forgot to do a before.
Even though, the mirror has been around for a while it just didn’t LOOK LIKE an old mirror.
I wanted it to be crusty and narly, so I decided to use a product called Perfect Plaster by Caromal Colors that I had on hand. Easy to apply with just using a chip brush and a pouncing motion to apply. I just applied it randomly on the frame.
I was going to apply a toner after this but I didn’t like the stark cream color so
I chose to use a sample I got from Plaster Paint in the color Seaside. UMM..great color.
As you can see I applied it randomly leaving some of the white plaster showing through.
Now to decide on the toner!!! I love the Zinc glaze made by Paint Couture so of course that just happen to be on my work bench.
I put some of the gilding wax on my finger and just rand it across the raised areas I wanted it to adhere to. I was going to take a larger photo of once I got it in the store but before I could get back to it, it was sold. Not a bad thing though, that is a good thing.
Do you have any ideas for repurposing an old mirror that you would like to share.
Here are a few I found on the wild goose search on google of how to repurpose an old mirror.
What a great idea from
She did this with just spray paint, a great way to repurpose an old mirror. Quick easy, especially if you were to use Plutonium Spray Paint because the dry time is like lightening fast.
Now this is about one of the most ingenious ideas, of how to repurpose and old mirror, I have seen in a while. I know it isn’t about paint but hey..a belt..now that is cool.
And how about gold or silver leaf.
